Lost in translation

English in Indonesia

I personally don't enjoy English in some circumstances due to its influences upon Indonesian. Yet,  there are words who consequently apply in Indonesia which come from English. Still, it takes into account for gradual decline of the native tongue. Furthermore, English sometimes rephrase the origin meaning of the word and injected new idea in it.

  1. Yes. Sometime it's good to have a global language to communicate effectively. However, we should keep our own language as it stands for our spirits.

  2. Same in Korea. Some people such as journalist, scholars, and politicians often use English words to express their opinions even though we have Korean words that are matched to the words they used. And I feel very sorry about that.
